Univ signs MOU with CPSC on hr development

Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC), an Inter-Governmental International Organization for Human Resources Development in Asia and the Pacific Region.

The MOU was signed on Feb.4 at the ISAT U Function Room by Dr. G. Kulanthaivel, CPSC Acting Director  and Dr. Raul F. Muyong,ISAT U President.     

Ms. Adrienne Abril, CPSC Executive Secretary  and Dr. Manuel A. Sanchez Jr., ISAT U Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) served as witnesses during the MOU signing.

 “This is an opportunity for us to have a strong partnership with Colombo Plan Staff College so that our university will be able to strengthen and further develop its human resources,” said Dr. Manuel A. Sanchez Jr. in his welcome remarks.

“We are hoping that this partnership will not end after three years but instead both parties will continue to sustain the implementation of its educational and training activities for the betterment of ISAT U and CPSC.”

Under the MOU,both parties will cooperate on the following areas:

1.Explore the potential for conducting joint training programs, projects and activities;
2.Identify opportunities for faculty and staff development;
3.Identify opportunities in exchanging human resources expertise;
4.Optimize utilization and facilitation of training facilities and resources; and
5.Explore opportunities for new ventures in the field of TVET such as joint research, publication and information dissemination.  

In his message, Dr. G. Kulanthaivel,thanked the university for the accommodation given to him. 

He said that CPSC intends to share knowledge, skills, information and best practices as it pursues excellence in both institutions. ISAT U & CPSC have been collaborating for a very long time. The MOU is a formalization of their partnership in maintaining excellence in skills and performance.

“With the high demands of techvoc graduates abroad, it is important for us to possess the needed knowledge and skills with the help and partnership of CPSC.It is my hope that CPSC will continue to support ISAT U to enhance the competencies of our faculty and students and our goal of producing high quality and competitive graduates.”, Dr. Muyong said in his message during MOU ceremony.

Part of the agreed strategies and activities that will be implemented under MOU included:

1.Organizing joint seminars, workshops, symposia, and conferences for sharing knowledge and technologies;
2.Internship of young professionals of ISAT U to CPSC;
3.Faculty and Staff Exchange;
4.Promotion of ICT in TVET and green initiatives for sustainable development; and
5.Other innovative educational and training activities for human resources development 

A brief afternoon snack prepared by staff from ISAT U canteen capped the event.
