FAD students hold fashion show

 

The Fashion and Apparel Department (FAD) students of Western Visayas College of Science and Technology (WVCST) held a fashion show dubbed as “Fashion Fusion- A Fashion Show"  on February 26, 2015 at the WVCST Covered Gym.

It showcased the creativity of the Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design and Merchandising (BSFDM), Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Fashion and Apparel (BIT-FAT), and the Bachelor of Fashion and Technology (BFAT) students in designing men and women’s formal wear.

Presenting the collection by year level, the first year BSFDM and the BIT-FAT students showcased their cocktail collection; second year BFAT and BIT-FAT  their gown collection; third year BIT-FAT students their the Men’s formal wear; and the fourth year BFAT and BIT-FAT with their earth wear collection.

During the fashion show, the student-designers modelled their creations on the fashion runway while the male designers of women’s wear collection preferred to get their own models.

The said event is held annually as a  culminating activity  and as  part of the final grade requirement of the FAD students. The faculty, students and parents of the designers served as critics during the fashion show. The collections are now available for purchase or rentals based on the decision of the student designers. 

 Meanwhile, another fashion show of the 3rd year BFAT students, which was a contest, was held at the Robinson’s Place Iloilo on March 8, 2015 as a part of their theses.

Nature, Animal Kingdom, Delusion, and Historic-inspired collections of the students were presented during the fashion show.

The winners of the contest are Angelie Paguntalan with the grand prize of Php 2,000; Eddie Lizada, first runner-up with a cash prize of Php 1,500; Jhoiriely Hualde, second runner-up with Php 1,000;Ma. Drimmy Halaba, third runner-up with Php 500; and Hanna Jean Langusta, fourth runner-up with Php 250.

Mandy Salcedo, Hector Gellangarin, Sheila Mae Hembra, Dr. Dominico Sergie Valenciana, and Dr. Erman Gange were the judges.
